NOVEMBER's "INSIDER TIP"2008: How to Cure that Slice!
In order to Fix the Slice, you must know what is causing it. A slice is caused by the club face being very open at the moment the ball leaves the club face. And the direction which the golf club on the forward swing is traveling is from outside the target line to inside i.e. across the the ball to target line.
Quick Fix 1- Change That Grip. Make sure you are holding the handle with your fingers and you can see 3 knuckles on your left hand. The V'S FORMED BETWEEN YOUR THUMBS AND FOREFINGERS ON BOTH HANDS must point to your right shoulder. This will help you to release the club naturally thru impact.
Quick Fix 2 - Move The Ball 2 Inches Back In Your Stance and focus on pivoting around your right hip on the back swing. On the forward swing sense that your weight bumps back to your left side, this will make sure you deliver the club from inside the target line .Promoting a shot that will start on line.
One Last Drill- Next time you play, make 2 practice swings prior to each shot. Hold the club in a horizontal position and swing around your body. just like a baseball swing.
Now you may think that you have heard or read all this before, but you see that wasn't the "INSIDER TIP". No, here is the tip.. if you have read it and heard it all before, then why have you still got a slice? My tip is, get down the practice ground, make the changes and practice until the only thing you'll slice and cure is HAM.
